How to create your first listing
Once your seller workspace is set up, publishing a listing is how buyers find you. This guide covers what each listing type needs, how to write strong titles, choose the right photos, and get your first item live.
Listing types
Four types of listings on Torra
Your listing type depends on what you sell. Each type has its own fields and publishing rules, but the core process — add details, upload photos, submit — is the same across all four.
Marketplace product
Physical goods, packaged products, everyday items, or merchant inventory. Each product needs a title, category, condition (new or used), price, location, and photos.
Service listing
Contracting, professional, or local services. Each service listing needs a category, subcategory, description of what you offer, your service area, pricing indication, and a profile photo.
Property listing
Residential, land, or commercial real estate. Each property listing needs property type, location, price or rent amount, photos, and agent verification before publishing.
Rental vehicle
Cars, buses, trucks, or specialty vehicles for hire. Each vehicle listing needs vehicle type, make, model, year, rental pricing, availability, rental terms, and photos.
Core fields
What every listing needs
These fields appear on every listing type. Filling each one fully makes your listing findable through search and convincing to buyers who land on it.
Title
Be specific. Name the product, service type, property, or vehicle clearly. Avoid vague titles like 'nice item' or 'good deal'.
Category
Choose the most accurate category so buyers searching in the right place can find you. Subcategory selection is required for services.
Price
Enter your asking price in Nigerian Naira. For services and rentals, use your starting or daily rate. Buyers will negotiate directly with you.
Location
Provide your city, state, and LGA. Buyers search by location — a specific location increases visibility and buyer confidence.
Photos
Upload at least one clear, well-lit photo of the actual item, workspace, property, or vehicle. Real photos significantly increase buyer contact rates.
Photos make the difference
Buyers make fast judgements based on photos. Listings with real, clear images get significantly more contact than those with blurry or placeholder images.
- Use natural light or a well-lit room — avoid dark or blurry shots.
- Show the actual item, not a stock photo or downloaded image.
- For products, photograph from multiple angles including any defects if used.
- For services, show completed work, your workspace, or tools.
- For properties, include exterior, key rooms, and any notable features.
- For vehicles, show exterior, interior, dashboard, and any wear.
Before you publish
Publishing requirements
Torra checks that your workspace is complete before a listing goes live. Make sure these are in place before you create your first listing.
| Requirement | Applies to | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Active subscription | All seller types | Required |
| Completed seller profile | All seller types | Required |
| Identity verification submitted | All seller types | Required |
| Identity verification approved | Real estate listings only | Required |
| Policy acceptance | All seller types | Required |
Common mistakes
What to avoid
These mistakes reduce buyer confidence and can result in listings being removed or your account being reviewed.
- Use photos taken from another seller's listing or a manufacturer's website.
- List items in a category they do not belong to for visibility.
- Post prohibited items — see the prohibited items policy for the full list.
- Use a price of zero as a placeholder — buyers will contact expecting that price.
- List the same product multiple times as separate listings.
