How verification works on Torra

Verification is Torra's way of giving buyers a stronger signal about the sellers they contact. This guide explains what gets checked, what the badge means, and what it does not cover.

What Torra checks

What is reviewed during verification

Torra reviews identity details submitted during the onboarding verification step. The specific information checked depends on whether you are an individual or business seller.

Legal name

Your full legal name as it appears on your government-issued ID. This is compared against the ID document you submit.

Government ID

A valid Nigerian National Identification Number (NIN) or Bank Verification Number (BVN), verified through Youverify.

Business registration (optional)

Business sellers can submit CAC registration number and director information. This adds a business verification signal to your profile.

Real estate agent details

Real estate providers must submit agent and property documentation before their listings can be published. Verification is required, not optional, for this category.

Step by step

How to complete your verification

Verification is Step 4 of seller onboarding. You can reach it directly during the onboarding flow or update your details from your seller profile settings later.

1

Enter your legal name

Provide your full name exactly as it appears on your ID. Nicknames or shortened versions will cause a mismatch during review.

2

Select your ID type

Choose NIN or BVN. Enter the 11-digit number exactly as issued. Your legal name must match the record on file.

3

Enter your ID number

Type in the document number from your chosen ID. Double-check for typos — an incorrect number will delay or block approval.

4

Business sellers: add CAC details

If you are registering as a business, enter your CAC registration number and director name. This step is optional for individual sellers.

5

Submit for review

Torra reviews your submitted details. While under review, you can continue through the remaining onboarding steps. A verified badge appears on your profile once approved.

What the badge means

A verified badge on a seller's profile is a trust signal, not a guarantee. It tells buyers that Torra reviewed the identity information this seller submitted.

The badge signals

  • The seller submitted identity information that was reviewed by Torra.
  • The name and ID details provided passed Torra's verification check at the time of review.
  • For business sellers, CAC details were reviewed and found consistent.
  • The badge is a point-in-time signal — it reflects what was checked, not ongoing monitoring.

The badge does not mean

  • Torra guarantees the quality, safety, or accuracy of the seller's listings.
  • Torra has inspected or insured any product, service, property, or vehicle.
  • The seller is incapable of misconduct after the badge was awarded.
  • A verified badge replaces your own due diligence before transacting.

Renewal and revocation

Verification is not permanent. Torra may request updated information and can revoke badges if submitted details are found to be inaccurate.

  • Verification may be reviewed periodically or when significant profile changes are made.
  • If your ID expires, updating your details keeps your verification current.
  • Sellers who change business category or add a new vertical may need to resubmit relevant documents.
  • Badges can be revoked if Torra discovers submitted information was false or misleading.
  • Revocation appeals can be submitted through the Torra support contact.

Get verified during onboarding

Verification is Step 4 of the seller onboarding flow. Start onboarding to complete your profile, submit your verification details, and get your workspace live.
