How to find and contact a seller

A buyer's guide to searching Torra's four marketplaces, reading seller profiles with confidence, and making first contact the right way.

Search smarter

Getting better search results

Use specific keywords

Search for the exact product name, service type, or vehicle model rather than broad terms. 'Toyota Corolla rental Lagos' returns more useful results than 'car'.

Apply location filters

Set your state or city in the location filter. Sellers in your area are easier to meet, inspect items in person, and coordinate delivery with.

Sort by relevance or newest

Sort by newest first to see recently published listings. Active sellers who just listed are more likely to still have availability.

Reading profiles

What to look for on a seller profile

Each listing links to the seller's public profile. These signals help you judge whether a seller is credible before you reach out.

Verified badge

Indicates Torra reviewed the seller's identity details. Not a guarantee of quality — but a stronger trust signal than an unverified listing.

Profile photo or logo

Sellers who add a real photo or business logo have taken more care in setting up their profile. A placeholder avatar is worth noting.

Business description

Read the seller's description carefully. It tells you what they sell, how they operate, and how to reach them. Vague descriptions deserve follow-up questions.

Location details

A specific city, LGA, and address gives you a clearer picture of the seller. Very generic or inconsistent location information is worth confirming before you commit.

Contact visibility

Sellers control whether their phone number is visible to buyers. Logged-in buyers see WhatsApp and phone details on the listing page if the seller has enabled them.

Listing quality

A seller with well-photographed, clearly described listings generally invests more care in their business. Thin or duplicated listings are a yellow flag.

Making first contact

Sellers on Torra receive contact via WhatsApp or phone. A clear, specific first message gets a faster and more useful response.

  • Introduce yourself briefly — your name and what you are interested in.
  • Reference the specific listing by name or description so the seller knows exactly what you mean.
  • Ask about availability, stock, or scheduling before discussing price.
  • Confirm the location — especially for physical goods where delivery or collection is involved.
  • Ask about payment method expectations before agreeing to anything.
  • Do not share personal financial details in a first message.

Before you agree to pay

Torra does not process payments between buyers and sellers. You and the seller settle payment directly. Take these steps before committing money.

How payments work on Torra
  • Agree on the total price including any delivery cost before committing.
  • Confirm the condition of the item if it is second-hand or rental equipment.
  • For services, confirm scope — what is included in the quoted price and what is not.
  • For real estate, ask about viewing arrangements before making any payment.
  • Prefer traceable payment methods such as bank transfers over cash when possible.
  • Do not pay before confirming the seller is genuine and the listing is still available.
